MSEA Training Offerings

MSEA’s Center for Education Policy and Practice is offering a virtual training opportunity for MSEA West Members with the chance to earn up to 3 MSDE Continuing Professional Development Credits. We are offering all three of MSEA’s Culture, Abilities, Resilience and Effort (C.A.R.E.) courses virtually at separate, convenient times for 1 MSDE credit each. The C.A.R.E curriculum focuses on building student-centered learning environments that incorporate the most current thought around who our students are and what they can become. Registration deadline for each course is July 11th at 5pm. A minimum number of 15 participants is required in order to run each course. If the minimum number is not met, the course will be rescheduled for a later date. MSDE Continuing Professional Development Credits – Participants that complete all workshop activities the series are eligible to apply for 1 MSDE Continuing Professional Development credit applicable to re-certification requirements per workshop part. All workshops will be offered virtually and Zoom links will be provided upon registration.

Course 1- Culture
Provides real-world, practical strategies for learning how student and community culture affect learning. You’ll come away with next-day strategies for assessing where your students come from and how it impacts how they learn.

Course 2- Abilities and Resilience
Participants will examine how to maximize the broad range of student abilities and how to foster student resilience.

Course 3- Effort **Completion of Courses 1 and 2 required for credit**
Centered around understanding the role of effort in learning and how educators can use a systems-based approach to implementing a culturally competent learning environment.
