We need your help. Jan Gardener released her budget on April 13, and while it wasn’t all that we had hoped for, we believe it is just enough to fund most of Dr. Alban’s budget priorities including the Salary Resource Pool. The budget that is proposed is moderate but it puts people first and seeks to undo some of the damage done by the previous BOCC. As Jan said, we are trying to get back to 2008.
However, the budget process is not done and we cannot take anything for granted. We need at least four votes on the County Council in order to secure this funding. There are those in the community who are short sighted and would like to cut the property tax rate. Were this to happen, funding for next year and beyond would be impossible to recover from.
We need to ensure that a majority of the County Council feels that he community supports this budget. We need you, your family, neighbors and colleagues to join us at the County Council hearing on the BOE budget this coming Monday, April 24 at 7:00 at Winchester Hall. Speaking is optional, but your presence would be very much appreciated!
Thank you for all that you do each and every day for FCPS!!
